SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) has created a single, competitive and innovative payments market where payments in euros can be made entirely electronically, quickly, securely, and efficiently, based on a common and uniform regulatory framework of standards, rules, and payment practices.               
Regulation 260/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 March 2012 (hereinafter "the Regulation") established technical requirements and uniform business rules for sending and receiving - on behalf of consumers, businesses, and economic operators - domestic and cross-border payments in euro by Greek and foreign banks within the European Payments Area.
From January 2021, SEPA will cover 36 countries: the 27 countries of the European Union, plus Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Switzerland, Monaco, Monaco, the United Kingdom, San Marino, Andorra, and the Vatican.

For credit transfer and direct debit transactions (individual or bulk), the Regulation, as amended and in force, provides, among other things:

  • the mandatory use of the Interstore Bank Account Number (IBAN)
  • the mandatory use of the "ISO 20022 XML" standard for the development of electronic financial messages, as defined by ISO (International Organization for Standardization) in XML syntax.
The service is available for Incoming / outgoing transfers (including commercial remittances Instant Imports) via Digital Banking and through a branch up to €100,000 per transaction.

You must keep the following information confirmed and/or updated:

  • for Natural Persons
    • Registered and confirmed identity card (ID card) or other valid legal documents (e.g., passport)
    • Confirmed VAT number/ foreign VAT number/ proof of country of taxation
    • Confirmed home address and registered contact telephone number
    • Updated Financial / Transactional profile based on your recent tax statement.
  • for Legal Persons
    • Name/legal form
    • Certificate of legalization in force or (for incoming remittances) a request for its renewal submitted through the Legal Technical Controls and Legalisation Management System (LTSM)
    • Confirmed VAT number/ foreign VAT number/ proof of country of taxation
    • Confirmed company headquarters address and registered contact telephone number
    • Declaration of Beneficial Owner (if required)
    • Updated Financial / Transactional profile based on your recent tax statement.
