Shares
A stock is a share of ownership in a company. By investing an amount in shares you are given the opportunity to take advantage of the eventual rise in the price of a company's shares. To acquire shares, you can turn to licensed investment firms and/or credit institutions that provide investment services.
Bonds
Bonds are securities issued either by the ggovernment or by private companies. They are used to borrow funds from the investing public. Bonds are considered fixed income investments, as the issuer of a bond undertakes the obligation to pay a certain amount of money (coupon) periodically throughout the life of the bond. A bond therefore is simply a loan. The issuer of the loan borrows the money not through banking intermediation but through the capital markets—the issuer is the borrower, and the bondholder is the lender. Through properly licensed investment companies and/or credit institutions that provide investment services, you can invest the amount you wish in ggovernment bonds or corporate bonds assuming the corresponding level of risk.

Mutual funds
Mutual funds are a collective form of investment, in which many investors participate, each with their own capital. The aim is to achieve profit over time, through the increase in the price of the shares owned by each investor. Mutual funds are divided into categories, depending on the type of financial instrument in which they mainly invest, e.g. bond, mixed, equity, Fund of Funds as well as Regular Maturity Mutual Funds. You can put together your personal portfolio of Mutual Funds according to your investment profile and your investment goals.
Structured investment products
Structured investment products can give you a partial or total capital guarantee and/or a minimum guaranteed return at maturity. Their valuation and performance are linked to the performance of the underlying performance benchmark (fund, stock market index, exchange rate, etc.). By investing in structured investment products you know from the start the risk you are taking on, as it is clearly defined due to the partial capital guarantee.
Create an emergency account
A cash reserve that you can save in a term deposit account, to be used only in case of emergency, will provide solutions if and when needed. This type of cash reserve that returns a fixed interest rate -that usually determined based on the amount deposited and the duration of the term deposit- can function as an "emergency fund".
Investing with determination
Capital investment is a nuanced decision, whether it stocks or some other financial instrument. We must first consider all the parameters that will affect our decision, such as our investment objectives, our risk tolerance, our ability to bear losses, the level of knowledge or / and experience we have in this kind of investment, and the length of time we want to commit our money for. At NBG, our qualified staff can provide information on the available investment solutions.
Sometimes investing can feel daunting, especially if you are not familiar with it. However, careful consideration of the available investment options, the funds you have available for investment and your tolerance for risk, will enable you to make informed investment decisions.
