Start with small changes in your everyday life.
When you're used to working hard it’s logical that you find it difficult to adopt a more relaxed lifestyle. However, the transition doesn't have to be a harsh change in your everyday life, no matter how much the trend seems to be "pushing" in that direction. Take your time and change it on your own terms. You might as well start by carving out small moments during the day, which you’ll dedicate to yourself either to spend quality time with your family or quite simply to rest and allow your mind to empty itself of worries and concerns. You don’t have to go in a cottage in the countryside in order to rest. Of course the pace of life in the countryside can't compare with that in the big cities. But that doesn't mean that you can't adapt your life to the lifestyle of slow living, no matter where you live and work.
Don't get sidetracked by the Internet
A quick search on the internet about the meaning of slow living is enough to make you dizzy. That's because most of the tips concern a lifestyle that's totally different our modern everyday experience, but in fact has nothing to do with the essence of this new lifestyle. For example, you don't need to have a garden or take up gardening in order to connect with nature, just as it’s not necessary to adopt a more minimalist lifestyle or renounce technology to be seen as embracing slow living. The secret in these cases is to find the mode that will allow you, on the one hand, not to become disconnected from the environment in which you live and, on the other hand, to discover the things that are truly important to you.

Slow living does not mean a passive attitude to life
The "slow" in "slow living" doesn't mean that the person who follows this trend should adopt a passive attitude to life. Learning to savor small moments in life, enjoying the moment today, is the most positive thing one can do. So don't confuse "slow" with "sluggish", because the intensity, or fullness, of slow living may surprise you!
There’s even a way for workaholics!
If you're wondering how easy it is for someone who works full time to actively adopt such a lifestyle, then the answer is obvious: Quite simple! For instance: A break is necessary after several hours of work. So you can use this 10-15 minutes to go out for a walk to the park near you and breathe in some fresh air or, if this is not possible, just take a stroll around the block, resting your mind. If you work from home, then things are probably easier, since you have the privilege to manage your time better, free of the hassle of commuting.
Everyday life can become very hard, especially if you have to deal with situations that are beyond your control or competence. Taking a step back– even occasionally – can help you to reassess things, with a clearer mind this time and able to find the solutions needed. There are no magic solutions. The important thing, though, is to enhance the quality of life and, what's more, the meaning it holds for you.
